Isoken Nwabunka (Chairperson)
Mrs. Isoken is the Chairperson of Victory Empowerment Centre Governing Council. Before her appointment as the Chairperson of the Governing Council, she has been a mentor and adviser to the management of Victory Empowerment Centre since inception.
Mrs. Nwabunka holds a Bachelors degree in English and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies, both from Lagos State University. She is an astute entrepreneur with a strong belief in empowering women and households through financial intermediation. She commenced her microfinance practice through extensive training and association with LAPO, a leading MF market player in Nigeria, and nurtured the startup operations of Grooming Centre.
She has undergone training in organizational development and management from the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria.
She was instrumental in nurturing the Grooming Centre from inception, guiding its early growth and stabilization. She is highly self-motivated and founded various striving enterprises before joining Grooming Centre. She currently oversees the administration of the entire organization.
Mr. Uzoma Emmanuel Nwazuoke (CEO)
Mr. Nwazuoke is the Chief Executive Officer / Founder of Victory Empowerment Centre (VEC). He holds a B.Tech Degree (Project Management Technology) from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). He is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management Chartered. He did a course on Sustainable Business Strategy at Harvard Business School.
Prior to this, Mr. Nwazuoke has been a management staff of top banks in Nigeria with over 20 years of cognate experience.
He has attended so many management courses within and outside the country. His experience covers corporate finance, Retail Banking, Risk Management, etc.
He is happily married with 3 children.
Bar Kingsley Okigbo (Secretary and Legal Adviser)
Bar Okigbo is the board secretary and Head of Legal Unit of Victory Empowerment Centre. He is the principal solicitor of Kingsley Okigbo & Co (Legal Practitioners and Corporate Affairs Consultants)
He has many years of experience in legal matters, especially financial matters.
He is happily married with kids.
Mr. Andrew Ochekwu Amedu (Member)
Mr. Andrew is a member of Victory Empowerment Governing Council. For over 15years, Andrew has been working with programs promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment of low-income households using both NGO led model and private sector-driven approach to reduce their vulnerability.
His experience over the years have centered on providing technical support for operators and key stakeholders in the microfinance sub-sector in Nigeria with some filed knowledge of East African countries of Uganda and Kenya, working in key areas of research, Advocacy, capacity building. market survey, design and implementation of credit and savings programs, product development, business planning, and more recently direct field operation.
Andrew holds a B.sc in Accounting and MBA (Mgt). He is an Executive Director of Operation with ASA International Nigeria and a Senior Consultant with Mark Analytics. He has attended many local and international training programs in the field of Microfinance, development finance, and livelihood. He is certified by the World Bank Tokyo Development Learning Centre as a Microfinance trainer, Certified by CIBN as a Microfinance operator and an alumnus of St. Francis Xavier University Canada, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany and School of Microfinance Kenya.
Laura Jonah – Omachefu (Member)
Mrs. Laura is a member of the governing council of Victory Empowerment Centre. Before her appointment, she mentored the management of Victory Empowerment Centre on the rudiments of risk and monitoring in microfinance.
Mrs. Laura holds a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from Ambrose Alli University and a Master’s degree from Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho. She commenced her microfinance practice through extensive training and association with LAPO, a leading MF market player and was a pioneer member of Grooming Centre. Since 2010, she has attended several training programs on Microfinance and Risk Management within and outside Nigeria, attaining certification in Risk Management from the University of New Hampshire in conjunction with the Sustainable Micro-enterprise Development Program in Ghana.
She is also a Certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERM) and a member of the International Academy of Business and Financial Management. Within 2013-2014, she undertook professional training in International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and is an awardee of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. She is also a CIBN-certified microfinance practitioner and a member of the Risk Management Association of Nigeria.
